Night Vision
Dusk Dive
Photo: Adam Clark

A few years ago, night ski photography was equal parts luck and voodoo. Now, thanks to new camera technology, taskmaster photographers, and sleep-deprived athletes, night ski shots are for real. Athletes pick lines in the daylight and return to shred them after dusk—often to escape the disciplinary boots of both the town mayor and the school principal. It’s not easy lighting tree trunks or spotting landings at midnight. But when camera, flash, and athlete combine in pitch-black night, the shot reveals itself. “Skiing at night is a bonus session,” says photographer Adam Clark, “but make sure to bring your warmest gloves.”
