Powder: An East Coast Surprise
Tim Dyer Tries to Find a Base
Photo: Brendan Gooding

When a huge storm dropped upwards of 15 inches in their backyard of Upstate New York, Skiing Mag ski tester Tim Dyer and two friends, Brendan Gooding and Matt Mang, decided to put the mountain bikes back into the garage and sample one of the biggest storms of the season.

From Dyer:

We started exploring on the afternoon of Monday the 23rd and found some good lines by Tuesday morning in the Bristol Hills of Upstate NY. This storm was such a cool surprise, like being a kid and getting a snow day. It was all about elevation—the higher you were the better the snow. It was heavy snow, but it was perfect because you didn't sink through to the bottom. We made some of our best East Coast turns all season...good times!
