Puyehue Volcano

On June 4, 2011 Chile’s Puyehue Volcano erupted for the first time since 1960, sending ash east over the Andes into Argentina. Although the eruption has not been directly linked to the lack of snow in many places in Argentina and Chile, flying in and out of South America has remained unreliable since the eruption. Currently, South America needs the ash to settle for travel and many locations still need snow.
