Coming out of the women’s qualifier, the top three women found themselves in the top five overall after the final run overall, making the level in the qualifier pretty high. The men didn’t hesitate either, throwing down massive airs with lots of tricks, despite poor visibility. New judging rules place more weight on what kind of creativity is integrated in to the line (i.e. grabs, spinning, and other tricks), so the incentive to up the ante was there, and the athletes took it.
