Tested: Salomon Quest 12 Boots
Salomon Quest 12 Boots
Photo: Mark Lesh

Turns out these boots do it all. At 26.5 ounces and a 120 flex the Quest 12s ski like a full-on alpine boot with a very smooth flex pattern. In reality, they are a full-on alpine boot—just an alpine boot that goes uphill in style. They sport an easy walk/ski mode with plenty of articulation in the ankle for touring. They come with touring pads that can swap out with the regular alpine souls that are compatible with all touring bindings including Dynafit.

The Quest 12s are a three-buckle boot, but with a huge snug power strap, they ski like a four-buckle boot without the extra weight. These boots have tons of micro adjustments in the buckles and canting that you’d expect with a high performance alpine boot as well as a magnesium backbone for more power and Custom Fit Pro Biovent Quicklace liners. They’re 100mm in the last. And they look pretty sexy.

Click through the following slides to see some of the uphill and downhill action that day.
