What to Expect from Your First Big Mountain Competition
Get involved

For those of you who are curious to try your luck at one of these events, the Freeskiing World Tour is full for this year (be on top of your game for registration next December) but there are several other similar big-mountain events still accepting registrations:

Colorado Freeride Championships Snowmass, CO February 25-27th, 2011 This 2-day event allows competitors to duke it out on the rock littered steeps of the Hanging Valley Wall at Snowmass. Registration is open to the public and there is still space available. More info here.

Salomon Extreme Freeride Competition Taos, NM March 2-3, 2011 With a prize purse of $12,000, over 100 competitors will go through a series of qualifying runs leading up to a Superfinals run to determine the final standings. Registration is open to the public and there is still space available. More info here.

Unconventional Terrain Competition Mad River Glen, VT February 5th, 2011 Although the terrain might not be on the same scale as the rest on this list, you can be sure that the ice flows, car sized moguls, and rocks will provide plenty of a challenge as people heckle you from the single chair. Register the day of at the base lodge. More info here.
