Mogul skier Heidi Kloser, the 2010 World Cup Rookie of the Year, isn’t falling into a sophomore slump.
Last year, in her first season on the World Cup circuit, she finished in the top 15 four times. This year, she’s been in the top 10 in three World Cup events, and won the Nor-Am cup in Park City by throwing a D-spin. Not bad for the youngest women on the U.S. freestyle team.
Kloser can most likely attribute some of that success to good genes. Her father is dominant adventure racer Mike Kloser, and her mother, Emily, is a trail runner who has won the grueling Transrockies run.
But that doesn’t mean she’s not making a name for herself. With her strong finishes so far, serious drive, and propensity for learning new tricks, Kloser is poised to make a run at the 2014 Olympics.-H.H.
