On any given day, slopestyle star Keri Herman is probably having more fun than you are. If you need proof watch Coldasice.tv, the video blog she runs with Meg Olenick and Grete Eliassen, or ask any of the girls she skis with. “Keri is the happiest person,” says Athena Brownson. “She can take any situation and see the positive side of it.”
When you talk to her, she bubbles with excitement, and the conversation about her year, and skiing, and even her day in Breck is peppered with “greats,” “awesomes,” and “perfects.”
And, realistically, she has a lot to be excited about. Right now, she on a travelling spree that includes stops at the European X Games in Tignes, France, an appearance at the all-girls Nine Queens comp in Austria, and a jaunt to Barcelona to check out the skiing in Spain.
“I’ve been working on my Spanish,” she says. “I love going to foreign countries.”
She’s had a big winter already. She placed 3rd at FIS world Championships, 2nd when the Dew Tour stopped at her home mountain, Breckenridge, and got silver in X Games Slopestyle.
“I’m really happy with my season so far,” she says. “X Games was the first time I’ve done a switch seven in a contest. I did it on the biggest jump on the course that scared the crap out of me.”
And she’s not the kind of girl who is going to stop there. “I’m trying to plan spring,” she says. “I’ll probably go to Mammoth for a month, then Mt. Hood, then maybe South America. There are so many options.”
