With a 79-mm waist, the Pure is a decidedly trail-oriented cruiser. It's built for moderate speeds and a relaxed attack, lacking some of the off-trail adventurousness that the wider Affinity Storm offers. It's a softer construction, with a foam core instead of wood.
Atomic's Affinity series is a three-model collection of women's system skis - all sold with bindings. Ranging in width from 84 down to 74 mm, they're more groomer-oriented than the wider Vantage series skis. They're also generally more value-oriented, with more economical constructions suited to less demanding skiers. All are rockered in the tip only, to smooth shocks and soften turn initiations, and all feature Atomic's Women's Flex Zone technology, in which the core is thinner in the tip and tail to promote a round flex pattern. Other women-specific design features include a V-shaped tapering of the sidecut (the narrower tail is easy to break free and skid at the end of the turn) and a slight lifting of the heel designed to reduce back strain and better suit a woman's physiology.
