Atomic Charter (2014)

Atomic Charter (2014)

The Charter, with its 100-mm waist, shares the same geometry as the Access (part of the Powder Series), but differs in that it has no tail rocker. It's the middle sibling in the Tracker AT series, both in terms of width (narrower than the Atlas; wider than the Drifter) and rocker profile (less tip rocker than the Atlas, more than the Drifter). It weighs 1,850 grams (186 cm length). The Tracker Series is a collection of lightweight skis designed for backcountry adventure. They range in width from a deep-snow-surfy 125 mm (Atlas, 192 cm version) down to a randonee-race-ready 85 mm (Drifter). All models feature rockered tips (for powder flotation) and flat tails (for easy skin attachment and backcountry utility). The narrower models get progressively less-pronounced rocker. All are built on wood cores with metal reinforcement in the binding area only, for binding retention and improved edge grip. All feature Atomic's Step-Down Sidewall construction: full sidewalls underfoot for solidity and edge grip; lower sidewalls topped by cap construction tip and tail for softer flex and torsional rigidity and more forgiving performance. Atomic introduced an alpine-touring binding in 2012-13, the Tracker, which now comes in a 13-DIN version as well as the original, beefier 16 DIN. It also offers a full range of climbing skins, including trim-to-fit models that can be used with any ski and pre-cut versions to fit all Tracker Series models, including the women's Century.
