The Cloud 7 is the softest and least expensive of the Cloud series. Where the Cloud 8 and 9 have partial sidewalls for solidity on edge and good grip on hard snow, the 7 is an even softer-flexing pure cap construction. Novices will appreciate its light weight and low price (just $400, with binding, in many shops).
The Cloud series of women's skis comprises a trio of ultra-value priced models from Atomic. All have soft, lightweight foam cores instead of stiffer, more durable wood. All are sold as systems (with bindings). All are rockered in the tip only, to smooth out terrain shocks and soften turn initiations. Women-specific design features include a V-shaped tapering of the sidecut (the narrower tail is easy to break free and skid at the end of the turn) and a slight lifting of the heel designed to reduce back strain and better suit a woman's physiology.
