Atomic Hawx 120 (2010)
This boot returns virtually unchanged. A stack of rubbery wedges on the outer forefoot allows that part of the boot to flex. You’ll feel it on hard snow during turns; as the zone collapses, it allows you to push your uphill knee farther into the hill. PLUS: Prefers a roll-it-on-edge—rather than a hit-the-front-hard—style of skiing, suiting it well for modern carving skis. MINUS: Sacrifices some edge grip on steep, icy snow.
