The new Carbon Megawatt is part of Black Diamond's Freetour series of skis designed to be efficient on the way up and still plenty fun on the way down. Based on the more downhill-oriented Megawatt, the Carbon Megawatt is wide and floaty but uses carbon laminates, a paulownia wood core, and thinner sidewalls to find the balance between weight and downhill performance. Generous tip and tail rocker provide added surfiness. This season's Carbon Megawatt is 500 g lighter than the previous version. Metal tabs on the ski's tail improve compatibility with climbing skins. Like all BD skis - except in the Tour series - the Verdict is built with the company's 3D CNC wood core - a milling technique that reduces weight without sacrificing performance. All of Black Diamond's skis are being built in a new, state-of-the-art, company-owned factory in China.
