Black Diamond Current (2014)
The Current borrows much of its shape from the Revert and puts it in a narrower package. It's part of the Black Diamond's Tour series of skis designed with weight and efficiency in mind. Its slender, agile 86-mm waist is paired with tip and tail rocker for increased playfulness and soft-snow performance. The Current uses a mix of carbon and fiberglass laminates, a paulownia wood core, and thinner sidewalls to find the balance between weight and downhill performance. Sandwich-sidewall construction improves this ski's integrity on hardpack. Metal tabs on the ski's tail improve compatibility with climbing skins. All of Black Diamond's skis are being built in a new, state-of-the-art, company-owned factory in China.
