Black Diamond Factor (2010)
The Factor was the first boot to successfully marry alpine performance with ski-mountaineering-boot features (a walk mode and optional hiking soles). It’s a one-boot quiver for skiers who skin and hike as often as they rip the resort. PLUS: The wire-assisted Boa closure system keeps the liner snugly in place. MINUS: We’ve seen the walk/ski mechanism fail after a season of use, but the company is amicable when it comes to repairs.
