Black Diamond Factor MX 130 (2014)
An all-day “go” boot. It’s lightweight with tall, relaxed stance angles and a massive touring range of motion. Testers said it had a top-shelf uphill access skill set coupled with a solid and quick feel on snow. They liked the MX's neutral alignment and its crisp, strong lateral edging feel. They liked even more how the liner (the Boa closure is gone) mated with the cuff during touring for effortless propulsion. The key to the MX's lateral power, in addition to its all-of-130 stiffness, is the way the boot is constructed from the boot sole to the bootboard where the skier's foot rests. Some modular soles are simply screwed into the bottom of the boot shell, but the MX sole units are through-bolted into the shell and bootboard itself. This virtually eliminates torsional deformation of the sole when put under load.
