Black Diamond Velvet (2010)
A ski is rarely both lightweight and stiff, but the rigid, touring-friendly Velvet is just that. It performs well on hard snow but was built for long or short hikes in the backcountry. You can whip it around in tight chutes and glades and push the speed limit without a bit of hesitation. No surprises here. You get back what you put in. Plus: So light, it’s a breeze to tour on. Minus: Feels lifeless in junky snow.
PRICE (MSRP): $560.00
