The Magnum 8.1 outscored all others in energy and liveliness. Grippy, sturdy, and stiff, it slashes steeps and runs fast on flats. It’s proficient in all turn shapes and speeds, but it nonetheless prefers long-and-fast over short-and-swingy. Its edge grip is tenacious. plus: Technically strong, athletic skiers will be astounded by the ski’s enthusiasm. minus: Somewhat unforgiving and intolerant of laziness—a gaper bucker.
