Bluehouse builds all of its skis with conditions in mind, and the super-wide Maven is its fattest offering. It's a bamboo-core, metal-free, traditional sandwich/laminate construction with carbon-fiber reinforcement. Bluehouse likes the sustainability of bamboo, but also its performance characteristics: light, snappy, yet strong. The Maven is rockered and tapered tip and tail, with zero camber underfoot and a slight-twin tail, so it's designed to be loose and buoyant in the deepest Utah fluff. Bluehouse, established in 2007, is located in Salt Lake City, where it builds some of its skis and all of its prototypes in a downtown factory/warehouse. Sales are online-only (bluehouseskis.com). It collaborates with local artists on topsheet graphics.
