"Stiff and straight" are the operative words with regard to the Shoots a big ski built for big spaces (think Jackson Hole, Squaw, Alaska...). It's a bamboo-core, metal-free sandwich construction with an extra layer of glass reinforcement for extra stiffness and power. It's rockered tip floats the deep stuff and it's flat tail delivers strong turn finishes, though it's extra-long sidecut generally likes to go down, not across, the fall line. Bluehouse says its geared for one speed, and that's fast. Bluehouse, established in 2007, is located in Salt Lake City, where it builds some of its skis and all of its prototypes in a downtown factory/warehouse. Sales are online-only (bluehouseskis.com). It collaborates with local artists on topsheet graphics.
