Our testers all liked the snappy, reactive feel of this all-mountain hiker, finding it accurate and predictable edge-to-edge. And they admired its ability to offer so many different fits. Its 96 to 106 mm last width spread is huge and its influence leaks into the narrow and wide categories. Testers gave the Vacuum process high marks (although one mentioned it was a tight squeeze during molding) for the personalized fit it achieved. All noted a comfortable forefoot and a snug heel pocket post-molding. That yielded all-day comfort that teamed with all-mountain performance and smooth turn-to-turn predictability. The boot executed quick moves in tight spots thanks to the performance grip fit of the heel and ankle pockets. That’s a consistent trait of all Vacuum boots in our test. The flex was smooth and comfortable on the shin but solid enough to take an all-mountain pounding. The three-position Hike Ride Lock cuff release is unique in that it allows for a softer-flexing skiing mode as well as a fixed cuff function for maximum upper boot support. Testers deemed it suitable to a particularly wide range of skier types. Tester Comments: "The heel hold is outstanding. The foot stays in one place, comfortable but secure." "Love the warm fur lining. Exceptionally comfortable on calf."
