With its moderate waist width, the Wayback is built to handle whatever conditions a backcountry skier might encounter, even not-so-nice ones. Part of the tour-ready Backside Adventure series, it's also the lightest ski in K2's entire collection. It's a metal-free, wood-core (fir/aspen/maple) cap construction with strategically placed carbon-fiber reinforcement, weighing in at just 1,440 grams at 167 cm.K2's All-Terrain Rocker combines 70 percent camber with 30 percent tip/shovel rocker to smooth the ride, enhance forgiveness and improve soft-snow flotation. The Powder Tip is tapered so it's less easily deflected and swing weight is reduced. All Backside Adventure skis share a number of tour-specific features: Precut skins are sold separately, and the tip and tail have skin-ready attachment holes. The Snowphobic topsheet sheds weight-adding snow (especially when waxed) on the ascent. The flat tail is snow-anchor appropriate.
