Kastle MX88 (2010)
Groomed snow is its native tongue, but the MX88 is fluent in crud, bumps, and windblown, and with barely an accent. (You’ll hear it if you listen closely.) A power-hungry carver like the Völkl AC50—but less high-strung—it bends into smooth, supportive turns and responds best to heavier skiers. PLUS: Quickly hooks up, carves a round turn, and finishes powerfully. MINUS: Sub-150-pound testers found it stiff and bossy.
PRICE (MSRP): $1180.00
