Scarpa Mobe (2011)
Weighing in at 7 pounds 14 ounces per pair, the Scarpa Mobe is a touring boot that skis as close to a fixed-cuff alpine boot as you will find. This is because, well, they are an alpine boot—only they have a walk mode, are compatible with all alpine-touring bindings including Dynafit, and have rockered mountaineering soles. If you place a premium on downhill performance, yet still need to be mobile in your boots all day long (a.k.a you’re a patroller, heli guide, or hard-core sidecountry skier) these are the boots for you.
It’s a four-buckle boot with a super active power strap that feels like a Booster strap. They were more than enough boot to drive my 110mm Black Diamond Verdicts in heavy snow.
The shell, cuff, and tongue are Pebax Renew. They come with stock Intuition Speed Pro G liners.
They will be in shops this fall. [$759; scarpa.com]
