Völkl Attiva S5 Titanium (2007)
The S5 Titanium features all the metal and the same footprint as the Supersport S5 (see Frontside Expert reviews, page 86), only it’s lighter and more forgiving. Testers praised its quick edge-to-edge transitions and superglued-to-the-snow edging security. gripes: Has a glassy, hollow feel on hardpack that takes getting used to. props: Velocity freaks will be hard-pressed to find a more speed-hungry ski. tester’s take: "Stay centered and focused on this high-strung thoroughbred or get bucked." —Karen Nestor
