Völkl Aura (2011)
Like the Mantra, this is an ideal ski for an East Coast transplant. A stiff, adept carver, the Aura has enough width for modest powder days. “A Jill-of-all trades” said one tester, “the Aura offers precision, efficiency, float, and response in one package.” A wide tip bites and pulls the Aura intently across the hill into fluid GS arcs. Intermediates and mellow skiers may find it a tad powerful. Experts will appreciate the craftsmanship and performance of this classic all-mountain ski.

Tried out this ski today on every type of terrain I could find. I had great control in bumps and trees- these things turned on a dime. They floated over powder with no problem, even though they're pretty heavy skis. The only problem I had was some slight chatter on corduroy and crud, but as long as you ski aggressively, they'll be alright. Not the best ski for groomed runs, but excellent in everything else. Overall, the aura was a lot of fun.
