The Kuro is Volkl's widest model, and it's designed purely for powder applications. We skied these on a reefy day at Snowbird when it hadn't snowed for weeks and our knee ligaments scolded us for it. Fair enough the conditions weren't right for it. In soft, deep snow, this ski really shines, utilizing Volkl's "extended low profile" rocker to surf about effortlessly. It's much stiffer than its tempered-by-rocker mellowness will have you believing, and you'll notice that stiffness when conditions are anything but soft and deep. But if you're looking for that perfect powder ski for your quiver, consider the Kuro.
