Völkl Mantra (2010)
Like an effective middle manager, the Mantra is forceful and proactive in think-on-your feet situations (crowded slopes, tight trees) yet amiable and easy to command. Traditional laminate construction gives a damp feel with gobs of stability on edge. PLUS: Great for resort skiers who spend lots of time off-piste; maneuverable and peppy in the trees. MINUS: Less forgiving than many in this category.
