Volkl uses the experience and input of its professional park athletes to build the Wall, and their star power to sell it. The flagship of the Freestyle collection is durably constructed for the beatings it will take, with a glass-wrapped wood core, carbon reinforcement, sturdy sidewalls, and full camber for maximum leverage on take-off. Designed and built to be center-mounted, the Wall is as comfortable skiing backward as forward, even if you're not. Four park-ready models dominate Volkl's youthful Freestyle collection, but it also includes a value-priced do-it-all tweener ski, the Alley, and (because where else in the line are you going to put it?) a competition bump ski, the Mogul. There are three all-park-all-the-time designs: The Wall is the top model, athlete-built; the Step and Ledge are more affordable. The Kink has a more traditional, tapered shape for additional all-mountain versatility. All are metal-free, wood-core constructions, denser underfoot for good binding retention, lighter at the extremities for whippy swing-weight. Some (Wall, Kink, Step) have carbon reinforcement.
