Best Rail Slide Sans Rail

A Straight Line Twisted
When Shane McConkey (who we'll be profiling in October) mounted up some Stinger Graphite water skis, hopped off a cornice in Bella Coola, B.C., and slid sideways down a 45-degree spine for 2,000 vertical feet, he wasn't out of his mind on mushrooms, he was product testing the way only McConkey can. "The shape of these skis allows you to throw 'em sideways while keeping you on top of the snow, so you don't have to muscle every powder turn," he says. Oh, now we get it. That makes perfect sense.
