Ski photographer Lee Cohen created Altaholics Anonymous in 1983, when Utah's Alta ski resort received 244 inches of snow in one month. He launched a website to sell his goods a few years ago, and he's recently added a few more products. Interview by Caroline Gleich.

Most resorts’ opening day consists of one run, maybe two. Wednesday, November 12, Washington’s Mt. Baker ski resort opened with 67 inches of snow at the base and eight lifts.

Schlasman’s (pronounced Slushman’s) lift opened in December 2008 and accesses 300 acres and 1,700 feet of steep terrain. It’s more skier-friendly (translation: fewer places to get cliffed out) than the rest of Bridger Bowl’s gnarly Ridge, but beacons are required and nothing is marked. Case in point? Last season, patrol regularly performed rope rescues here.
