Remember that summer camp that offered everything from go-carts and kayaking to music and raffles, the camp your parents would never send you to? Well, if you’re like me you’re probably still in some stage of summer camp denial, trying to make up for lost opportunities every chance you get. Lucky for us, this weekend we may be able to make up for years of summer camp deprivation through the Jackson Hole Mountain Festival.
The action kicks off this Saturday morning with the Pole, Pedal, Paddle. The combination downhill ski, cross-country ski, bike, and boat race is a fundraiser for the Jackson Hole Ski Club. If this is more activity than you bargained for, simply watch or head over to the 34th Annual World Championship Hill Climb at Snow King. Even if you’re not into burning two-stroke or watching professional snowmobilers trying to make it up 1,571-foot Snow King as quickly as they can, the people watching promises to be second-to-none. Close out the day with some live music from the likes of Rotating Superstructure, Jet Black Ninja Funk Grass Unit, and Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, on the big stage out at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort at 5 pm.
Sunday is the first Annual Marmot Coombs Classic. For the event, which celebrates Doug Coombs’ life, skiers and riders will earn raffle tickets for each lap they complete on designated routes. The raffle will take place during the Sunday afternoon party outside of Nick Wilson’s, with the help of the Chan Man Roots Band. With lodging, lift and meal deals starting at $109, it’s likely cheaper than summer camp too. Check JacksonHole.com for more info.
