The Bag & Kettle

An English-style pub with a relaxed Maine vibe and freshly-brewed beer.
posted: 05/26/2010
Grease keeps you warm. And Sugarloaf’s Bag & Kettle’s most famous dish, the Bag Burger, is happy to help. It’s a six-ounce ground-beef patty with American cheese on a bun imported from Boston, lettuce and tomato, curly fries, and Bag Sauce—a top-secret concoction.

The Bag & Kettle
Sugarloaf, Maine
Despite its remote location, Sugarloaf, Maine, features a surprising array of good restaurants. But one slopeside establishment really tugs at the gutstrings, and we mean that in a good way: The Bag & Kettle. It’s an English-style pub with a relaxed Maine vibe. The classic Bag Burger—a six-ounce beef patty served with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, curly fries, and top-secret “Bag Sauce”—won Best Burger in Skiing’s 2008 Resort Awards. Beer is brewed on site. We recommend the strong yet mild Potato Ale. [207-237-2451]
