The owners at South Lake Tahoe's Naked Fish get their fish from a source that doesn't deliver to Tahoe—they have to drive 200 miles to pick it up. Some say it's the best quality fish you'll find on Lake Tahoe, so order off the Nigiri menu. Or, if you like cream cheese in your sushi, try the Sun Burn Roll, which is tempura fried and has spicy tuna, avocado, and cream cheese. The restaurant is located just a few blocks from the Nevada stateline, which means you can go play blackjack after a few glasses of sake.

If you want a trendy tourist scene, Naked Fish is your place. If you're looking for the freshest fish with a low key, old-school Tahoe vibe (where the locals go)... head to Samurai Sushi a couple miles west on Hwy 50. Sit around the fire pit, and make new friends while enjoying their seaweed salad, the freshest uni, and a flight of premium sakes. The sign may be faded and the decor dated, but as a local, this is the onIy place in the basin I'll swallow raw fish. Experience counts and these guys have been doing this forever!
