Where to Eat in Tahoe: Tacos Jalisco

Find Truckee's best tacos in a hole-in-the-wall behind 7-11.

Tres Tacos

Ask any Spanish speaker in Truckee where the best tacos in town are and they’ll point you straight to Tacos Jalisco, a hole in the wall behind the 7-11 on Donner Pass Road. Once you find it, order at the counter—try three spicy carnitas tacos (the pollo tacos are delicious too) and ask for a side of guacamole—then grab a booth. The place has the authentic vibe of a local taco joint in Puerta Vallarta, but with a hint of ski-town culture (bus boys in beannies and plenty of après ski Tecates being consumed). And if you spent all your cash on lift tickets to Squaw, don’t fret: Tacos are under $2; burritos are under $6. 11400 Donner Pass Road, Truckee; (530) 587-1131
