Northstar recently gave their base village a major facelift, and now the village itself is a destination of its own, thanks to a year-round ice skating rink, art galleries, fine dining, shopping, and luxury condos. But you might as well still ski while you’re there: 19 lifts cover 3,000 acres, including one-mile long runs off the Backside and a whopping seven terrain parks. The best places to ski? Hit Rail Splitter or Burnout off the Backside Express for the longest, most consistent runs on the mountain and tree stashes that hold powder for days. The terrain park zone is off the Vista Express, so head there to fine tune your superpipe skills (or know to avoid that area if your best trick is a 1970s spread eagle). www.northstarattahoe.com
