Burlington, VT, Dec. 10, 2001 (Ski Trade News Online)-- Northeastern ski resorts, which suffered tropical temperatures and rain last week, got a pre-Christmas reprieve over the weekend.

Colder temperatures permitted the resumption of snowmaking on Thursday night, and by Sunday night up to 30 inches of wet natural snow had fallen at higher elevations in the Adirondacks. Further south and east, New England resorts reported four to eight inches of new snow.

On Monday morning, most major resorts had at least one lift back in operation. In Vermont, Jay Peak, Killington, Mt. Snow, Okemo, Smuggler's Notch, Stowe and Stratton planned to operate.

In New York, Belleayre, Gore, Hunter and Whiteface were running. Maine saw Sugarloaf and Sunday River open, and New Hampshire had Bretton Woods, Sunapee, and Waterville Valley. In Massachusettes, only Jiminy Peak reported lift operation.
