Buffalo, NY Jan. 7, 2005--Internationally renowned big-mountain skier Chris Anthony hits the slopes near Buffalo after screening the newest Warren Miller epic film, presented by Jeep, IMPACT —a heart-pumping, high-action thriller which includes Anthony challenging the back-country of Montana's Bridger Range near Big Sky.

Check out the Impact Trailer.

Why Buffalo? Anthony says he's heard the buzz about Western New York's world-class ski resorts. "I wanted to check it out myself and see if it's as exciting and beautiful as people say, Chris says.

During his stay in Buffalo, Anthony will meet with local winter sports experts to discuss how to raise the city's image as a world-class sports destination. "I know that the Buffalo area not only has great skiing and winter sports facilities, Anthony says, "but I have also been hearing about WNY's excellent sports stores, expert physical trainers, and world-class sports physicians—they know how to get skiers and riders on the slopes and keep them there.

Anthony's appearance in Buffalo is spawning international attention in the sports world. The screening of his movie, "IMPACT, will serve as a kick-off for the "Quest for Gold fundraiser for Kelly Hilliman, Western New York's own U.S. Ski Team Aerialist, and the University of Buffalo Ski Team. Prizes include vacations to the Big Sky Resort (Montana), Sunshine Village at Banff (Lake Louise, Alberta), with air travel provided by Montana Travel, JetsGo, and Ultimate Ski Vacations, as well as an overnight package being offered by Buffalo's exclusive hotel, The Mansion, in conjunction with an exciting Holiday Valley Ski Resort two-day lift package for two.

In addition, world-renowned photographer Jack Affleck of Vail, Colorado has agreed to judge a winter photography contest sponsored by the Nichols School and Buffalo Big Print. "Western New York offers some of the most beautiful winter landscapes in the U.S. and the world deserves to experience its beauty, Affleck says.

This is the second consecutive year that Warren Miller Films comes to Buffalo to screen its world-famous sports films while introducing one of the starring athletes. The screening of IMPACT with Chris Anthony will be Friday, January 14, 8:00 PM at the Market Arcade Film & Arts Center in Downtown Buffalo. Filmgoers can meet Chris Anthony and get his autograph at the theatre and at a party afterwards at Ya Ya Bayou Brewhouse (next to the theatre).
