Early morning hikers and skinners at Breckenridge have a new accessory: pooper-scoopers. Thanks to the recent jump in doggie traffic on the slopes, the Colorado resort has enacted rules to clean up the canine/skier interface: Owners must scoop poop left on-piste; no travel on black-diamond runs; all pooches must be off the mountain by 8:30 a.m. Sorry, Fido. We prefer our powder fluffy - and white.

Pass through the security gate to Beaver Creek and you’ll see a sign with the resort’s motto, “Not Exactly Roughing It.” But don’t be fooled by the ice rink, ski valet, and plates of chocolate-chip cookies. The Beav hides its rough side in its terrain. The recently expanded 180-acre Stone Creek Chutes offer steep, gladed skiing for quick shots of 600 vertical feet.
