There's nothing like the lifeless, scorched surface of Mars to elicit childhood memories of skiing. Timothy Glotch, a planetary geologist who works on the Mars Exploration Rover Project, named a Martian incline "Wachusett" because it reminded him of a bunny slope at the Massachusetts resort. With a temperature range of minus 125 deg-rees to minus 15 degrees, this may be one of the few hills that Vail Resorts isn't sniffing around to buy.
