FAT AND WEIGHTLESS
Looking for a lightweight fatty for the backcountry? The Goode Carbon 116 weighs just 2.8 pounds (before you add a binding), about half as much as its competitors. But they don't ski like a science project. We tried a pair at Vail last winter and were surprised at how well they held an edge. The number 116 refers to the width in millimeters underfoot, which means it should be able to float in bottomless powder. ($990; goode.com)
