MAMMOTH LAKES, CA Jan. 5, 2005 - On December 26, snow began falling on Mammoth Mountain Ski Area and powerful California storms have been pounding the area ever since. In 10 days, Mammoth received over 100 inches of new snow, creating incredible conditions and the promise of a long season.

Weather forecasters are predicting that snow will continue to fall through the weekend, adding at least another five feet to the impressive total. With an early season start in October and continuing December and January storms, Mammoth is having an epic season.

To date, Mammoth has received over 247 inches of total snowfall, forming a solid 9 to 11-foot base of powder, packed powder and machine-groomed snow. Mammoth has the most diverse terrain in California and averages 400 inches of snow each year.

January is the time to come up to Mammoth Mountain to enjoy the incredible snowfall, uncrowded slopes, great deals, parties and more. January Midweek Madness means discounted lift tickets - priced at $46 (regularly $58), and great deals on lodging, demo and rental packages, group lessons, and food. Stay and Ski Free packages are also available.
