OGDEN, UT — (Press Release - Nov. 12, 2007) — Salomon launched its highly anticipated 2008 Jib Academy website today, unveiling a schedule of international stops for the world's most exciting youth freestyle ski event. Online pre-registration is coming soon at www.salomonjibacademy.com and will be limited to 100 participants per tour stop. In its second year, the Salomon Jib Academy is a series of slopestyle events for freeskiers ages 16 and under. The free event gives young athletes an opportunity to boot up and ski with their heroes. Kids around the world will meet to ski for a day in small groups with Salomon's biggest athletes. Equipped with tips from the pros, each group will nominate one youth skier to compete in the afternoon's 2008 Jib Academy final. The voting is peer-judged. One participant will advance to the finals based on his/her style, talent, positive attitude and sportsmanship.

The 2008 Salomon Jib Academy Tour will take place in Sweden, Norway, France, Switzerland, Canada and the United States. Regional events in the U.S. will take place at the following locations:

  • February 23: Appalachian Ski Mountain, North Carolina www.appterrainpark.com
  • March 1: Spirit Mountain, Minnesota www.spiritmt.com
  • March 8: Sno Mountain, Pennsylvania www.snomtn.com
  • March 29: Mt. Hood Meadows, Oregon www.skihood.com

Winners from around the globe will earn an all-expense paid trip to Mammoth Mountain in California in May, for a week of skiing and hanging out with Salomon's world-famous freeski team! In Mammoth, skiers will participate in a private sunset shoot and hang out with the stars as they work on other promos and videos throughout the week. Second and third place prizes at regional events will receive tons of great Salomon gear.

"This is truly the biggest underage party of the year, says Jenny Naftulin, Salomon USA's Sports Marketing Associate. "Salomon is dedicated to supporting the next generation of professional skiers and this is the perfect opportunity for them to showcase their stuff and see first-hand what being a pro athlete is all about.
