Burr Ridge, Ill. – March 25, 2009 – The Winter Dew Tour today announced freeskiers Duncan Adams, Tucker Perkins and Nick Martini as the winners of the Ball Park Alpha Dawgs Award following the Tour’s third and final event at Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort in Lake Tahoe, Calif.

All athletes who are under 18, have been a pro for less than two years and competed at all three stops of the Winter Dew Tour were eligible for the award. Voting began on Monday, Feb. 23, the day after the inaugural Winter Dew Tour season ended. Fans voted at allisports.com and the award was given to the top three vote getters among eligible athletes.

“There's nothing better than being able to recognize and enable guys to live their dreams,” said Chuck Hemmingway, director of marketing Ball Park Franks, Sara Lee. “What greater way to show our support than by crowning the best up-and-coming athletes Ball Park Alpha Dawgs.”

After finishing in third place in the ski superpipe finals at Breckenridge Ski Resort, Adams went on to secure fourth place in the Dew Tour points standings. Perkins claimed fourth in the ski superpipe finals at the Winter Dew Tour at Mount Snow, finishing the 2008-09 Tour in 14th place in the superpipe and 21st in the slopestyle rankings. Martini’s sixth-place showing at Mount Snow Resort helped propel him to 10th place in the year-long race for the Dew Cup.

“I’m super excited to be chosen to be an Alpha Dawg,” said Adams. “The Winter Dew Tour has definitely done a lot for the up-and-coming winter athletes. A big thank you to them and to Ball Park for recognizing us.”

“Winter Dew Tour has really opened doors for me career-wise; it is the ‘big time’ in freeskiing,” added Perkins. “It has brought me and my skiing to the top of my game and really pushed me to be one of the best because I’m competing against the best. I’m thankful to all the people involved for making these possible for the athletes.”

“It’s awesome to be a part of something that the public voted for,” remarked Martini. “This award is from a company that isn’t usually involved in the sport of skiing, so it’s great to see Ball Park support our sport. Thanks to all the fans that voted for me!”

Adams, Perkins and Martini faced stiff competition for the Ball Park Alpha Dawgs Award. Other nominees included:

Colby Albino
