DONNELLY, Idaho — Tamarack Resort reached toward the next stage of its fast-paced development as a ski destination today. Strengthened by the success of its most recent real estate releases, Tamarack Resort Chief Executive Officer Jean-Pierre Boespflug said the resort will add two new lifts — doubling what had been projected for the 2005 construction schedule — and dramatically expand expert terrain at the four-season resort two hours north of Boise.
Tamarack originally planned to install only one fixed-grip quad — the Whitewater Chair — to provide ski-in, ski-out access to members of the Whitewater neighborhood. Tamarack will also construct its third detachable high-speed quad — the Wildwood Express — serving the resort's northern bowls. For the 2005/2006 season, this one-mile long quad lift will provide skiers and riders with access to 140 more acres of advanced trail and glade skiing on 1,700 vertical feet. The number of named runs will increase from 25 to 35, while the lift-accessible off-trail terrain will double.
"This dramatically expands the number of trails and type of terrain being offered, said Jim Spenst, Tamarack vice president of operations. "The terrain is in a whole different drainage with a different solar aspect — those prime north-facing slopes — and new vistas. This new terrain and orientation put Tamarack in a different class for the ski enthusiasts. The Wildwood terrain encompasses some awesome steep bowls and gladed tree skiing.
Another key mountain expansion underway this summer is increased snowmaking capabilities. Three additional high traffic areas on the mountain, the Waltz, Serenity and Bliss trails, will be outfitted for snowmaking. This extension will guarantee operation from Thanksgiving to the first weekend in May.
To capture excitement for the addition of this entirely new section of terrain, Tamarack Resort today re-opened its Season Pass Sales at Pre-Season Prices. Until July 4, outdoor enthusiasts have the opportunity once again to purchase an adult season pass for just $399. In addition to full winter access, season pass holders are also entitled to summer trail access, including lift-service. To purchase a season pass, visit www.tamarackidaho.com or call 877-TAM-RESORT.
