Midway, Utah Feb. 11, 2002 (AP)--Ole Einar Bjoerndalen of Norway overcame two shooting mistakes to win the gold medal in the men's 20-kilometer Olympic biathlon event Monday.
Frank Luck, the German veteran, took the silver and Victor Maigourov of Russia won the bronze.
Bjoerndalen, gold medalist in the 10K at the Nagano games four years ago, missed two of 20 targets but he compensated with a strong cross-country performance to win in 51 minutes, 03.3 seconds.
Luck finished in 51:39.4 after a perfect shooting performance to add another silver medal to the one he took eight years ago in Lillehammer. He also has three gold medals with German relay teams.
Maigourov, who had one missed target, clocked 51.58.7 for the bronze.
Jeremy Teela was the top American, finishing 14th. The others Americans, Jay Hakkinen and Dan Campbell, finished 26th and 76th, respectively.
