Standing in one place for hours waiting for a skier to fly past in a nanosecond can get nippy. "But," says Dee, "if you're hiking up, you're going to sweat. Then you stop, and you get a chill again. Breathable clothes are best."
Dee always watches for snow in the forecast, which actually is a good sign for stationary spectators. "When it's snowing, it's warmer."
