Brian Bielmann is a Hawaii-based surf photographer who shoots for magazines like Transworld Surf and companies like Volcom and Red Bull. In April, he competed against ski photographers at a photo contest at the Whistler World Ski and Snowboard Festival—and he won. We spoke to Beilmann about the differences between ski and surf photography.

This past weekend, Jackson Hole, Wyoming, hosted the Ski Mountaineering National Championships, where 82 randonee racers clad in tight suits and super lightweight skis climbed and descended 7,850 feet in less than three hours. After a weather delay on Saturday, the final event of the Freeride World Tour went off today for the 24 male skiers and snowboarders tackling Verbier's legendary Bec de Rosses. Sweden's Kaj Zackrisson won today's event, while France's Candide Thovex takes the top honors for the overall tour.

On Saturday, the women skiers and snowboarders tackled Verbier, Switzerland's Bec de Rosses to compete in the final stop of the Freeride World Tour. Norway's Ane Enderud repeated her victory from last year, Jackson Hole's Jess McMillan took second, and wild card entry Julia Mancuso, fresh off her two Olympic silver medals, took an impressive third place.
