Kirkwood, CA - (Press Release) - With over 400 inches of snowfall so far this season, and base depths ranging from 132-230 inches and 2,300 acres to explore, Kirkwood is the premiere destination for adventurous skiers and riders who like to carve their own path. A recent storm dropped over two feet of the driest, lightest powder seen this season, and consistently cold temperatures have kept the snow in mid-winter condition, providing tons of squeaky, clean fun for all.

From the steepest corduroy to wide open bowls to miles of intermediate groomed terrain, Kirkwood is a winter playground like no other - remote, pristine and plenty of room to move. Add in a host of unique programs you can't find anywhere else - Powder Cat Skiing, Backcountry Clinics, Dog Sled Rides, Ridgeline Snowshoe Tours - and top it off with the best snow in Tahoe and the picture becomes as clear as the blue sky above. Kirkwood is definitely worth the trip.

A new Mini-Pipe has been added to the Chair 7 freestyle fun, with low walls for novice skiers and riders to get the feel for riding the pipe before moving over to the monster Mountain Dew Superpipe on Chair 5. All three terrain parks are open with features for all levels of the freestyle set - gentle rollers and banked turns in Adventureland (Chair 9), low to the snow rails and fun boxes in the DC Playground (Chair 7), along with a full blown rail yard and a series of high flying hits in the DC Stomping Grounds (Chair 5).

Expedition: Kirkwood weekend camps include a Women Specific Ski Camp and All Mountain Snowboard Camp on Saturday and a Backcountry Awareness Clinic on Sunday. Private Guiding Services available daily; stop in to the Expedition HQ on the Plaza or call (209) 258-2360 for more information.

Junior Expedition Teams (JETS), Daily Junior Expedition and Private Coaches are available for adventurous teens, strong intermediate and up, who want to explore the off-piste terrain of Kirkwood with other kids their own age and ability. Space is extremely limited; sign up by calling (209) 258-7754.

The Cross Country Ski and Snowshoe Center is 100% open, with 80K of groomed double track with skating and snowshoe lanes to the top of the trail system, offering the most terrain of any cross country center in the High Sierra and exquisite views. Sign up for a weekend skate clinic package; trail pass, lesson and rental gear included for just $48! Call (209) 258-7248 for more information.
