5 Ski-town Meat Markets

Party Scene

PIERCE STREET ANNEX
TAHOE CITY, CA
Pierce is the street for pub crawling in North Lake, and the Annex-nicknamed "Pierced Meat"-is the rallying point for Bay Area "talent." On Wednesday nights, expect to encounter Jà¤ger Bombs, bawdy competitions like "learn to strip" and Jell-O wrestling, and a disco dance floor stickier than Pee-Wee Herman's popcorn. AURORA NIGHTCLUB
BANFF, AB
This underground, open-till-the-wee-hours dance club plays host to Calgarians in hoodies drinking vodka and rye highballs, while visiting Europeans in platform shoes and baby Ts swivel to a rotating cast of scrawny, white DJs. If you crash and burn at the 22-person table, try your luck in the Cigar Bar-the only legal smoking room in Banff-which has everything from $3 cigarillos to $60 Cubans. LE P'TIT CARIBOU
TREMBLANT, QC
Tremblant's village has over 30 bars and restaurants, but you wouldn't know it-as everyone heads to the 'Bou. The line can be stupid-long, with waits in subzero temps lasting up to an hour. But the payoff is well worth it-women in stilettos and miniskirts dancing on tabletops above East Coast Joeys on bachelor-party benders. Teens, take note: While the drinking age in Quebec is 18, the 'Bou is a 21-and-up joint during the ski season. (Cover: $0-10; 125 Chemin De Kandahar; ptitcaribou.com)

THE ZOO BAR
BOYNE HIGHLANDS, MI
In the Upper Midwest, skiing is often viewed as an excuse for guilt-free daytime drinking. And the Zoo Bar, which sits at the base of Boyne, is the epicenter for getting schnockered on schnapps before dusk. Daily classic rock-and-roll cover bands guarantee dancing elbow-to-elbow with Grand Rapids steaknecks and Michigan State sorority girls. Last call comes early-8 P.M.-when partyers amble uphill to the Slopeside Lounge. Our advice? Keep going all night. You're only skiing 545 vertical feet, after all, and no one brags about scoring first chair. (Cover: nada; 600 Highland Drive; thezoobar.com)

THE LAVA ROOM
ASPEN, CO
Aspen's Club Chelsea is a more civilized place to meet sugar mamas and papas-but if you've reached the shameless phase of the evening, hop across the Hyman Avenue Mall to Lava. Owned by twin 23-year-old brothers from Texas, this subterranean booze pit keeps Aspen's multinational working class raging with live DJs, a frisky dance floor, and Red Bull concoctions delivered in plastic cups. Heinekens still cost a steep $5, but if you're looking for a den of debauchery in the classiest ski town on earth, this is it. (Cover: variable; 426 E. Hyman Ave.; 970-925-5282)
